The Doctors at Brookview Dental Will Once Again Open
Their Waiting Room and their Hearts to Those Less Fortunate
For the fifth consecutive year, the dentists at Brookview Dental, 7135 Sylvania Avenue in Sylvania, OH, are encouraging adults who are seeking free dental care to visit their practice on “Smiles from the Heart” day. This year, the event is Saturday, February 11, 2012. Brookview Dental commits one day a year to providing dentistry to area residents at no charge.
From 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM, the doctors and their staff of dental assistants and hygienists will clean teeth, fill cavities and remove teeth, at no charge, for those who are 18 years of age or older and who are unable to pay for the service.
In the first three years, more than 400 people received free dental care during “Smiles from the Heart” day at Brookview Dental. In all, more than $63,000 of free dental care has been donated so far.
”’Smiles from the Heart’ is one of the many ways we try to show our community how much we appreciate their neighborliness and friendship. It’s our way of giving something back to a community that’s been very good to us over the years,” said Dr. Peter Urbanik, who, along with Dr. Brad Barricklow and Dr. Todd Schultz, share the dental practice.
Brookview schedules their “Smiles from the Heart” day on the Saturday closest to Valentine’s Day each year. They consider it a Valentine’s Day gift to the community. “Seeing all the smiles of appreciation and getting hugs from these many patients is our reward,” according to Shane Ferguson, Brookview Dental Practice Manager
If you’re interested in receiving free dental care on “Smiles from the Heart” day, you must be 18 years of age or older, and must have transportation to Brookview Dental, located at 7135 Sylvania Avenue in Sylvania. Brookview is located just across the street from the Sylvania Senior Center, and one half block from the Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter Sports and Recreation Center.
Important note: “Smiles from the Heart” patients will be seen on a first come, first served basis. Last year, patients started lining-up outside Brookview Dental at 7:00 PM the night before. As participants arrive, they will be required to complete a registration form. Attached to the form will be a number indicating his or her place in line. The Brookview Dental lobby will open at 7:30 AM on the 11th. Organizers strongly suggest that participants dress appropriately if they plan to wait in the parking area for the doors to open.
